Warfarin Progress

I am now on the Warfarin and the injections stopped about 5 days ago, which is great. My INR count, which is the blood measurement they take and checks the coagulation ability of the blood is still fluctuating a bit so my maintenance dosage is still to be established. I have had the odd day off going to the hospital but until it settles I cannot be discharged or at least allowed longer periods without going.
My leg actually feels a lot better, my stick has been packed away, and I sometimes forget to put on my Nora Batties which means I'm much less conscious of it than I was. Conversely I can overdo it and end up flagging after a while. It's a bit like a track race, I mustn't start off too quick or I tie up in the final straight!
My strength is returning after the chemo and Frank says I must be getting better because I'm nagging him again :-)

Back on the Warfarin

Finally got the OK to go back on the Warfarin, so it's daily trips to the BRI hospital to get my blood checked and the finger prick machine actually worked this time. The injections were beginning to take their toll on my stomach and Frank's resolve so I went for the tablets instead. As a woman I'm allowed to change my mind :-) At the moment I am having both but expect the injections to stop in the next 7-10 days, we're both looking forward to that.

I've been to the gym 3 times now and I'm slowly increasing the programe. It's great to see little improvements each time I go and is an incentive to keep aiming at with each visit.

Thanks to everyone who leaves comments or send emails, I enjoy reading them.

This blog update doesn't really mark any progress. I have been unable so far to get back on the Warfarin and I am told now that the Clexane and the Warfarin are pretty much on a par, the main difference being one is an injection and one a tablet. Staying on the injection gives me more freedom as it requires no blood testing and visits to the clinic. So I have a dilemma, whilst I don't like the injections every day I think I prefer the freedom, so watch this space.

My big acheivement of the week was a return to the gym. I did a light workout, keeping off my leg as much as possible and with reduced weights but I got through and felt good for having done it.
