Treatment Delayed

Due to low blood counts my next treatment will not be this Thursday but delayed at least a week until my counts are back up to a reasonable level. I have been bruising easily which is a sure sign the bloods are low as the tests confirmed. This means I am very prone to infection at the moment and need to be careful about cuts, bites and colds etc. This may be the pattern of the treatment going forward, so the original 15 weeks elapsed time is already 16 weeks and may by the end extend by several more weeks, depending on blood tests before each round of treatment. Apart from my bloods my general reaction to the treatment is good, as Pam said my appetite is not affected and the side effects have not been that bad, nothing a good siesta can't put right anyway. I have also seen the lymphodema nurse about my leg and my "Nora Batty stocking" (thanks Frank!) is on order, can't wait :-)

Enjoy the May Bank Holiday weekend, hope the sun shines.

Sunny Devon (well almost)

We have just returned from a few days in Devon and each day I'm feeling stronger, ready for round two next week. I had a great day shopping in Exeter, doesn't it make you feel better girls! Only problem is we haven't been to the gym for a week so we're off there this morning.

I have to be careful about infection at the moment as the drugs affect my immune system, so please warn me if you have any colds etc just in case. Should be OK but it's best to play safe as my white blood count is down on normal already.

For anyone who would like to sponsor me for the Race for Life, here is the web page link for you to use. Thanks in advance.

There will be more updates next week as the treatment starts up again.

End of Round One

I have just received the second treatment of the first course (out of 6). This means I have 2 weeks to recover now before round two starts. The second treatment is shorter at about 1 hour. I've still been managing to go to the gym since last week and going for walks, with only a little modification to my routine. Fatigue is the main side effect so far and when it hits you just have to go to bed, which Frank likes because he can do nothing (as if he needed any excuse!) .

I'm still planning on doing the Race for Life, although I'll be walking it, as it's good to have a focus and because many of you have sponsored me and I can't give you your money back :-)

Hope you all have a lovely Easter.

Treatment has started

I started the treatment on Thursday and it has gone well. The nurse came to the house and the whole process took about 3.5 hours. I have been feeling well and have been to the gym this morning (Saturday) and managed a normal workout without any problems. Saw a Pink Floyd tribute band at the Colston Hall last night and had a great time. Planning to see a Madness tribute band tonight, so it's so far so good. :-)
