Routine Check-Up :-)
Or so we thought. Arrived at the Marsden on Monday for a routine check up, all going well until the blood results came back and showed my HB as 5.8 (should be around 9). Everyone thought the test must be wrong, as I was sat there quite happily, been to the gym on Saturday and generally carrying on as usual. So they ordered a re-test, another hole in my arm! When this came back eventually, it showed 6.1 and I was admitted to get 3 units of blood, pronto. This meant staying in on Monday night as it took until about 12.30am to give me 2 bags and the final one had to be given on Tuesday morning. They checked my HB and it was 9.1, so they were happy to release me, BUT they need to understand why my HB dropped from 10 to 5.8 in 3 weeks. So I am off the trial drug and they have ordered a colonoscopy and until the results are known I will remain off the drug and even then if it's inconclusive I don't know. For the un-initiated, including me, it's a camera up the bum :-( and I'm not looking forward to it. So it's a race to see if I can get the procedure in Bristol quicker than London and I have no date yet from either. We had to return on Friday for a further HB check and it was 9.9, so the blood has taken, and we came home Friday evening to a few very dry plants.
So for the interim period we went to Brighton, we had planned a couple of days anyway and luckily we had clothes to cover the whole week, always take a few spare pants, don't you? Brighton was great as usual, we just love the place and will be back again asap when we know what is happening with me. We've found a great Chinese take-away near the campsite, a pub overlooking the sea (same menu as the Priory and Dovecote), fantastic tapas place (real Spanish) in the Lanes. We did take our scooters but had no chance to use them along the front. One thing we are always left wanting, like we had no time for the Italian home-made ice cream this trip so we will have to go back. Sounds like our trips are all eating and drinking, and they are! I did do some retail therapy as well girls.
Anyway when I have more news I will post it, maybe this week I hope, I don't want to stay off the drug for too long.
Take care,
Sheila x
