Just remembered

Almost forgot to update the blog this week, I'm out of practice.

This weeks hospital visit was uneventful, my bloods are fine and we just discussed side effects with the doctor and sorted out a few pill changes which we hope will help with the leg pain at night (which at times can be excruciating) and my tummy troubles caused by the drug. On the bright side I've lost a bit of weight and going to the gym seems easier, my clothes are looser and I feel happier. That's not to say I've stopped eating, just got back from the cafe after a fry up! I just eat what I can, when I can, and if I'm full up stop eating, so no worries!

We are finally getting the garden done, it's taking shape and looks good so far. It should be finished next week. Then I will need to get some advice on planting. Hopefully it will be all finished in time for Spring.

Next update will be in about three weeks, I have a scan on the 11th again, they are more frequent than I expected, but that's good as far as I'm concerned and then results and blood tests on the 18th.

Speak soon.

Good News Day

Got the phone call today about the scan and the tumour is still stabilised, so we do not have to go back to London until the end of the month!

Frank's mum also had her one year check-up results today following her heart attack and has been told she doesn't have to go back for a year.

So all in all a good day :-)

Quiet Trip

My appointments were not affected by the fire, although there has been some effect on the hospital of the fire in Fulham Road.

This week I had bloods tests which were fine, my liver function has returned to the level it was before they got concerned, still high, but down 25%. Everything else was OK. I also had a CT scan but no results. I am expecting a call this week with the outcome, once they have been analysed.

What happens next very much depends on the scan, if it's working we carry on, if not, I have a 4 week break to flush my body of the drugs and we discuss another trial.

So keep everything crossed it's the former.

Speak soon

Marsden Fire

Several people have asked about the fire at the RM yesterday and how it may affect my treatment. The short answer is I don't know at the moment. I attend the Sutton Branch of the hospital not the affected central London site, so no problem in theory, but that depends on how much has to be transferred to Sutton while they get Fulham back on line. I am due for a scan on Monday so I will phone tomorrow to see if it is still OK.

My blood counts last week were OK, so we got back to Bristol in plenty of time for New Year celebrations.

Here's hoping 2008 brings better news.
